Osteopathy

Osteopathy is an American Science founded by Andrew Taylor Still.  It is a drug less, gentle manual form of healing that follows a set of principles which emphasizes the interrelationship between structure and function of the body.

As an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, I completed my education in 2020 and have been practicing professionally since. My career started at a small practice in Cambridge, Ontario but I seized an opportunity in Whitehorse, Yukon which is where I was prior to joining the Body Mechanik team in September 2021.

After experiencing injuries and traumas which led to several concussions, I experienced the benefit of osteopathy first-hand and am now helping others along their health journeys. seeking to provide those services for others. Like many others in my profession, I believe in a whole body approach to healthcare. Together, my patients and I create an individualized plan that works with their schedules and their lives.

When I’m not treating, I enjoy being active through hiking, functional training, and water sports. On an average day, you can usually find me reading at a local coffee shop or cooking for an evening with friends and family. I look forward to meeting you!

Rayne’s study of the anatomy of the human body and the benefits of motion began when she traveled to India to study yoga teacher training. It was there that her appreciation for a holistic approach to healing the body and the awareness of the close relationship between movement and health flourished. She always knew that she wanted to help and heal others, which led her to discover and fall in love with Osteopathy, and its natural outlook to healing.

Rayne attended a rigorous 4.5 year masters program at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy (CAO), where she acquired over 4200 educational hours and approximately 1000 clinical hours. She is proud to uphold the standards of practice and be a member of the OSTCAN association. It is at the CAO that she learned the principles and practice of classical osteopathy as designed by Andrew Taylor Still, the founder of Osteopathy. Her studies and learning will never cease as there is so much to know and understand about the human body and its intricacies.

Born and raised in the heart of Muskoka, her love for nature began at a young age. She continues to appreciate nature and its wonders through gardening, hiking, canoeing, swimming in the lakes and dipping her toes in the beautiful Elora Gorge.

As an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner , I completed my 4 year education at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy which is a 4 year, 4400 hour program that includes 1000 hours of supervised student clinic. I am also part of the Ontario Osteopathic Association which is fully recognized by the insurance industry. I founded Body Mechanik so that I could create a clinic that was based on my philosophy of practical training combined with my belief in my patients and their ability to heal themselves. As an avid ringette player (competing at the National level and winning a gold medal at the Canada Winter Games), I coached younger teams and grew my interest in human movement. I enrolled in Kinesiology at the University of Waterloo and during this time I began personal training as well as coaching fitness classes while continuing to coach ringette. After finishing my Honours Bachelor Degree in Kinesiology I enrolled in the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy. I have vast knowledge in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics and manual osteopathy.

Born and raised in Centre Wellington, my husband José and I enjoy living and working in the community. In my spare time, I enjoy everything our country property has to offer, hiking, working out with friends and family time with my nieces and nephew. I believe it’s important to give back to the community and find my role as a board member of Big Brothers Big Sisters Centre Wellington to be very fulfilling.
